Detroit’s spectacular fireworks show is back along the city’s riverfront — after being shot off Lake St. Clair for the last two years due to the pandemic. Hart Plaza and other prime viewing spots are expected to be packed with crowds. The theme for the 64th annual fireworks show is : “Hey Detroit, The Sky Shines for You.”

What’s new this year? Enhanced security by Detroit police. Expect officers to sweep for weapons thanks to 10 new mobile metal detectors created by Evolv Technology. The specialized devices work faster than ordinary metal detectors yet are highly accurate and offer a touchless experience.

When are the Detroit fireworks 2022?

The 2022 Ford Fireworks take place Monday. Expect the fireworks to begin around 10 p.m., along the city’s riverfront.

If you are interested in viewing the fireworks in person you can visit Hart Plaza, 1 Hart Plaza or Belle Isle Park, 99 Pleasure Drive. The event will also be broadcasted LIVE on WDIV-TV (Local 4) at 8pm. WJR-AM (760) will also air a pre-fireworks show with Paul W. Smith from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
