Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th in the State of Michigan and alternative transportation methods such as Lime, MoGo and Lyft are offering free or discounted rides to polling locations throughout Metro Detroit for the general election.
The offer includes two free rides up to the amount of $15 each way to and from the polling locations and is currently available to use for early voting. In order to claim the free ride, simply use the promotional code DETROIT-VOTES2022.
LeAaron Foley, director of government relations at Lime told Metro Times “We are proud to do our part to increase voter turnout in Detroit this year, and we are excited to offer free rides to poll sites throughout the early voting period and on Election Day.” For more information on Lime’s decision to provide riders with free rides please visit here.
Mogo is also offering assistance to polling locations in Metro Detroit. On the Transit app select the 1-Hour Pass and when prompted, enter the code MOGOVOTES. Return your bike to any station and then after voting, grab another bike and enjoy the rest of your 1-hour ride time. REMEMBER – to return your bicycle, slide the bike firmly into an empty dock, and wait for the green light to make sure it’s locked. For more information on MoGo services please visit here.
Lyft is also allowing riders to also use the promotional code VOTE22 for 50% off a ride to the polls (up to $10) on Election Day. Lyft is committed to making transportation more accessible.
