Actor Jonathan Majors, 33, was arrested in New York City on Saturday after a woman alleged she was assaulted in a domestic dispute; according to police.
Majors was taken into custody in the late morning based on allegations of strangulation, assault, and harassment, according to a statement issued by the New York Police Department.
The initial reports were unclear who the alleged female victim was and what exactly happened. However, TMZ has since updated their reports indicating that the law enforcement sources have confirmed the woman is said to be Major’s girlfriend. The incident began when she and Majors got into an argument while returning home from a bar in Brooklyn. The alleged argument occurred in the backseat of a taxi.
Multiple sources are reporting that the girlfriend confronted Majors about another woman texting him. This was apparently something she had realized after attempting to sneak a peek at his phone, which added to Majors anger. The woman alleges he grabbed her hand, and allegedly slapped her and put his hands around her neck. The publication also indicated that the two were dropped off at separate locations.
A spokesperson for Majors said. “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.” Police responded to a 911 call from a location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan at about 11:14 a.m. Saturday, where a woman, said she had been assaulted by Majors. Upon a preliminary investigation, It was determined that the woman was injured in what appears to be a domestic dispute.
Majors arrest was reported by TMZ and other publications earlier Saturday and the victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.
